❓ FAQ – Self-drive boat rental
🔹 Can you rent without experience?
Yes!
No experience or license required for our 6hp boats (Quintrex or Pontoon).
A 20-minute training session is provided by our team along with a map of the best spots in the lagoon.
🔹 Where can we go? Is half a day enough?
The lagoon of Bora Bora is to be discovered at your own pace.
Equipped with an anchor and a swim ladder, you can stop at any time.
- A complete tour of the island takes about 4 hours without stopping.
- In half a day, you enjoy the southern part, the most beautiful: coral gardens, leopard rays, sandbanks, etc.
🔹How many passengers per boat?
Quintrex: 2 adults + 2 children (- 10 years)
Pontoon: 4 adults max
❗No exceptions possible for security reasons.

🔹Is a permit required?
No for the 6hp (in accordance with French regulations)
Yes for the 15hp or 30hp (valid French or foreign license)
🔹Is fuel included?
Yes, no need to refuel on the way back.
🔹Is there a deposit?
Yes, it will only be used in case of damage.
A Visa/MasterCard will be required with debit authorization (not charged unless there is an incident).
Maximum amount: 400,000 XPF. The boat will be inspected at departure and arrival. In case of any damage found, fees will be applied according to a pre-established rate schedule (available on-site).
In the absence of this, the debit authorization is canceled.
🔹What do you provide on board?
A cooler is provided for your use free of charge.
🔹Where do the departures take place?
Departure only from our nautical base at Matira (south of the island).
🔹How long does the activity last?
La demi-journée dure 3h30.
La journée complète dure 7h00.
🔹What time will we be back?
For the half-day, you will be back around 12:30 PM or 4:30 PM.
For the full day, you will be back around 4:00 PM.
🔹Is it possible to pick us up directly at our place of stay?
We will pick you up for free by vehicle if you are staying on the main island.
If you are staying at a hotel on a motu, you just need to take one of the hotel shuttles to reach the main island. Our vehicle will be waiting for you at the arrival point.
For cruise passengers, the transfer is organized from the docks of the village of Vaitape. The meeting point is the information center, on the docks (next to the taxi parking area).
🔹Is the boat accessible? Is it covered? What safety equipment does it have?
All our boats are equipped with a ladder for launching, benches with cushions,...
They are all covered thanks to a tarpaulin.
All boats are equipped with:
- Life jackets (adults/children)
- GPS + phone with pre-registered number
- Explanatory notice
📞 If needed, we are reachable at any time during your outing.
🔹 What is your policy regarding alcohol during the excursion?
For safety reasons on board and during snorkeling, any consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited during the activity.
🔹 I'm not comfortable in the water, can I still go for a boat ride?
We advise against taking this walk if you do not know how to swim.
🔹 Can I go on the ride if I get seasick…?
If you are prone to seasickness, we recommend that you take your precautions before coming to participate in the activity.
🔹Can a pregnant person participate in your excursions?
If you have your doctor's permission, we see no objection to you taking the tour.
🔹 Can I fish from the boats?
Note that fishing is strictly prohibited on rental boats (Quintrex and Pontoon).
